To go along with this, the rear body corners of the FJ Cruiser hang down even lower than the frame. Even though these corners are simply sheetmetal voids with nothing inside of them! These factors give the FJ Cruiser (and all 2003+ Toyota SUV's for that matter!) a much worse departure angle then the Tacomas and older Toyota SUV's. On those vehicles, a very high clearance bumper can be achieved with little modification to the vehicle.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eOur solution is the FJ Cruiser Extreme Clearance Rear Bumper you see here. For this bumper, we cut off the low hanging frame crossmember and replace it with our frame end plates. This process is broken down step by step with tons of detailed pictures, which takes all of the guesswork out of this otherwise daunting modification. With this bumper, your FJ Cruiser will gain a ton of extra ground clearance, departure angle and rear end protection.
